Sushi!
I went to Vivo today. And decided to get myself a hammie! Actually I’ve been contemplating the adoption for awhile now, and a trip to the Vivo toilet this afternoon cemented my decision. *You make great things while you’re in the loo, you know?*
Went into PetLoversCentre and picked out a (pink!) cage that comes with running wheel, slide, food bowl, water dispenser and house, bedding, food of dried nuts and such, vitamins and bath powder. Oh, and not forgetting THE HAMSTER!!! It’s a white-faced Roborovski (a kind of dwarf breed) that is uber active and loves to run and responds to your clapping!
We named her Sushi cos she looks like a rice ball. :D :D :D
An internet picture:

Went home and set up the cage that took a damn long time, aching fingers and thrashing headache to finish. The China-brand cage is not easy to fit at all and only have chinese instructions :| Thankfully I had Zw with me who, unlike me, can actually read Chinese words! :)
Chip was overly friendly to Sushi and perhaps thought that Sushi was real sushi and started licking her! The poor girl got so distraught and wet! It crouched into itself and was really quite shakey. Chip didn’t leave her alone in the cage, and because I left the cage on the floor, Chip kept visiting the cage and kept prodding it, sniffing it, and occassionally barked when she couldn’t find Sushi. Damn adorable, but I know it’s real bad for the hamster especially cos its a new environment for her. Poor lil thing, just two months old.
Belle was, as usual, very dao. Only sniffed it at its cage once.
Now for some LQ pics that I took from my phone. Maybe I’ll take more “professional” pics of Sushi next time…

Blurry pic of Sushi in the foreground, and the slide/ladder in the background.

The two-storey cage! I place it on my bookshelf to avoid direct sunlight and direct attention from Chip.

Sushi in the centre of the pic, next to her threadmill.
More info on the Roborovski. Russian name is so sexy!
How to care for your hammie.
P.S. Anybody who wants to get a pet should consider the life-long implications (the pet’s, that is). One must always be a responsible pet owner. Never forget that adopting a pet is a daily responsibility that will last until the pet dies. You should never buy a pet just because you think that it is cute. Novelties wear off.
